Why buy a used Peugeot?

Peugeot is now part of the Stellantis empire alongside brands like Citroen, Vauxhall and Fiat. While the oily bits underneath are shared with these cars, Peugeot models distinguish themselves with modern, avant-garde styling, and a noticeable jump in material quality over more affordable brands in the stable. The lineup includes city-friendly models like the 108 and 208, plus family SUVs like the 3008 and 5008, as well as quirky mash-ups like the 408 coupe-SUV. Most models offer petrol, mild-hybrid or PHEV power, and there's a growing selection of fully electric cars too.

Owning a used Peugeot

While the design and material quality you'll find in Peugeot cars approaches the kind you'd find in premium brands, Peugeot running costs should be a bit more reasonable. Most mechanical parts are widely shared with Citroen and Vauxhall cars, so replacements should be readily available and sensibly priced. Fuel economy is generally impressive across the board too, with even entry-level PureTech petrol models serving up an impressive blend of big-engine power with small-engine efficiency.

Why buy from Motorpoint?

Your Peugeot questions answered

Yes, you currently get a choice of several fully electric Peugeot models.

The entry point into Peugeot’s battery-powered lineup is the e-208 hatchback. This takes the capable 208 as a starting point but trades out the engine and fuel tank for a 50kWh battery pack under the floor and a 100kW electric motor driving the front wheels. This configuration means the e-208 can return a respectable 225-mile range on a full charge and gets the kind of sprightly performance you’d expect from an EV.

If the e-208 isn’t quite practical enough for you, take a look at the relatively similar e-2008 SUV. This model offers more or less the same EV package as the e-208, though the slightly larger body brings range down to slightly more than 200 miles. The e-2008 might be a slightly better EV choice for family buyers, however, thanks to its larger cabin and boot.

This powertrain is also used in the Peugeot e-Rifter, which pairs the space of a removal van with a clean, zero-emission electric drive. Range is slightly lower due to the Rifter’s bulkier body.

Peugeot cars have generally performed quite well in recent reliability surveys. Publications including ReliabilityIndex, Warranty Wise and JD Power have all marked the brand above average in their research,

PureTech is Peugeot’s name for its range of petrol engines. All are turbocharged and downsized compared to older Peugeot engines, so make more power with better fuel economy.

BlueHDi is the Peugeot brand name for its diesel engines. These are a great choice if you’re a high-mileage driver thanks to their fuel-sipping economy.

GT Line is what Peugeot calls its sporty trim level available across most of its lineup – similar to BMW’s M Sport or Audi’s S-Line. The exact spec for GT Line varies between Peugeot models, but most GT Line cars get black exterior highlights for a meaner look along with some choice interior upgrades such as sports seats.

EAT8 is Peugeot’s brand name for its automatic transmissions. If you see a Peugeot sold with EAT8, that means it’ll do all the gear changing for you. Nerdy fact fans will want to know EAT8 stands for Efficient Automatic Transmission with eight speeds.

Peugeot Open and Go lets you open your car’s door without having to unlock it first. You just need to keep the key in your pocket or bag and the car will automatically unlock the doors when you’re close by.
