The UK’s most popular car colours are usually grey, black or white, so these colours really stand out!
The right colour can really make a car pop. Whether it’s a silky metallic shade that sparkles in the sunshine, or a zing of vibrant colour that lifts a grey day, a car’s paint shade can affect how you feel about the car. And, let’s be honest, it’s nice to have a car that’s not in the usual colours…

Mazda – Soul Red

Available on all models except the 2 Hybrid, Soul Red is one of Mazda’s signature colours. It’s a rich, lustrous shade that catches the sunlight beautifully. As a special tri-coat paint colour, it’s usually the most expensive paint colour when buying a new Mazda, so it’s well worth grabbing a used one.

Jeep Avenger – Sun Yellow

Many buyers shy away from yellow cars, but it’s great to be bold. We wish more cars came in the same sort of shining hue that you can get the Jeep Avenger in. In fact, Jeep’s Sun Yellow paint really suits the Avenger – it’s a fun car full of ‘easter eggs’ to find and funky details. On top-spec models, you can even have the dashboard in yellow. It’s like a boost of serotonin every time you get behind the wheel.

Porsche Taycan – Frozen Berry

Porsche’s Paint to Sample programme is well known for lovely shades – in fact, there are over 130 to choose from. And, if that’s not enough, you can work with Porsche to design your own colour if you’re rich enough. But the good news is that Porsche offers some amazing colours for less money, such as the Frozen Berry shade that’s available on the fully electric Taycan. This is quite a hazy pink or, if you want something bolder, Porsche’s Rubystar colour is a bit brighter.
Peugeot – Obsession Blue

This is a well-named paint colour – it really will have you obsessed. It’s a gorgeous blue colour that’s light in some conditions and dark in others. Is it too much to compare it to the colour of a picture-perfect Caribbean sea? And, luckily, you don’t have to stick to one particular model: Obsession Blue is available on the 2008, 3008, 5008, 308 and 408 – and it’s the standard colour on a couple of those.

Audi – Navarra Blue

Audi’s Navarra Blue is a deep, inky colour that will surprise you with how nice it looks in the sunlight. It’s almost purple in some conditions, while suave and sophisticated too. Audi seems to be starting to phase this colour out, but it’s still available on a few different models, including the A1, A3, Q2, Q3 and Q5, as well as previous-shape A4 and A5s.

Nissan Ariya – Akatsuki Copper

This colour features prominently on Nissan’s website, but you can’t actually seem to order it at the time of writing, which is a bit of a mystery. If you do get to see an Ariya in Akatsuki Copper, you’ll marvel at how futuristic it looks, and that it looks like quite an expensive car. The Ariya does look and feel futuristic, with sleek styling and a state-of-the-art interior.

BMW – Isle of Man Green

First offered on the latest BMW M3 and M4, you can now pick Isle of Man Green on most BMWs via the brand’s Individual Special Paints programme. Either way, it’s not cheap – a new M3 costs £90,000 or so, or the individual paint choice on other models is a £4k option. We think it’s worth it, though, because this green marks you out as a person of exceptional taste.

Renault – Valencia Orange

You probably won’t see this colour very often – it’s only available on the Clio, and formerly the Arkana. But you’ll know it when you see it, because it’s a zesty hit of citrusy goodness. Like a glass of orange juice, seeing a Valencia Orange Renault will set you up for the day and put you in a good mood.

Vauxhall Mokka – Tropical Green

The stylish Vauxhall Mokka has always had a top-tier green option – first it was the vibrant Mamba Green and, now, this Tropical Green shade. We’d also accept descriptions of teal, turquoise and ‘er, kind of bluey-greeny’. Tropical Green was introduced when the Mokka was facelifted in late 2024, so those who know will spot that you’ve got the very latest model…

Hyundai Santa Fe – Terracotta

Hyundai offers a range of earthy shades on the latest Santa Fe, from Pebble Blue through to Olive Green and a matte brass option. But we’d stick with the no-cost paint colour – Terracotta Orange. The Santa Fe looks the business whichever colour you pick, but this vibrant hue will highlight Hyundai’s styling verve to everyone around you.
