Motorpoint praised for unique training project in Burnley25 July 2016
Motorpoint has been singled out for praise after leading a unique private, public and voluntary sector training project in Burnley
The UK’s leading car supermarket, which is based on Rosegrove Lane, joined forces with Hameldon Community College and Harger Clough Community Centre to provide four Year 10 pupils with an insight into life at the multi-award winning company. The pupils spent time in a variety of departments – business support, sales, stock control and workshop – during a six-week period in June and July.
The pupils - Jack McGarry, Joe Hindle, Oskar Lewandowski and Callum Stevenson, completed their time with Motorpoint with a visit from their Head Teacher and local MP Julie Cooper in recognition for their efforts during which they were presented with certificates for their achievements.
Jordan Dean, Sales Controller at Motorpoint Burnley, explained: “We have thoroughly enjoyed having the pupils working with us. They are a real credit to Hameldon Community College. It’s been great to see how they’ve grown during their time with us and we hope they go away with a far greater understanding of the skills required in the modern workplace.”
Richard Burbery, Assistant Headteacher at Hameldon Community College, added: “This project has been a great success. It’s been so pleasing to see how the pupils have changed over the six week period and the difference it has made to their confidence spending time at Motorpoint.”
Motorpoint opened it’s branch in Burnley in November 2001. Since then it has gone onto sell a car into every postal code area in Lancashire.
