What is Kia Eco mode?
Kia’s Eco mode aims to use as little fuel or electricity as possible, so it’s a good option if you’re driving in a relaxed way and not in a rush. The accelerator pedal response is adjusted to reduce the amount of power the engine produces – therefore saving fuel – although you can still access full power by pressing the accelerator all the way down. The air conditioning system typically works at a lower level as well, again to limit the amount of fuel used. Automatic Kias will generally change up to a higher gear sooner than in other modes.
What is Kia Normal mode?
Normal mode is the standard setup, which balances fuel efficiency and performance. Many drivers will leave the car in this mode and may never change it.
What is Kia Sport mode?
Kia’s Sport mode sharpens the feel of the accelerator, giving you more of the engine’s performance immediately. This is coupled with slightly heavier steering for a more ‘connected’ feel with the car, Kia says. The air conditioning system can work at its full capacity, if you want it to, which makes Sport mode a good option if you want to quickly cool down the interior.
Automatic cars will leave the car to rev a bit higher before changing up, to keep you in the car’s power band for sporty driving. Keeping the car in a lower gear for a bit longer can also be a useful characteristic when towing.
What is Kia MyDrive mode?
Available on some Kia models is a MyDrive mode – which is a pick-and-choose or individual setting. Where fitted, this mode gives you the ability to tailor the car’s driving experience even more.
For example, you might prefer to combine the relaxed Eco mode engine tuning with the Sport trim’s heavier steering (if you find the standard steering a bit light).
What is Kia GT mode?
On Kia’s high-performance GT models, you get a specific GT button – often in a zesty lime green colour. This puts all of the car’s characteristics into their sportiest settings, for the ultimate performance and handling experience.
