New 2026 Nissan Juke EV: price, specs & release date

A new Nissan Juke is coming in 2026, we can reveal. It's the one on the left of this image.

The Nissan Juke is a top small SUV, built on the popularity of the distinctive first-generation model.

The current car manages to stand out while looking more grown up, and it's much more of an all-rounder – it has a big boot for the size of the car, there's plenty of rear-seat space and a modern touchscreen.

But the small SUV market is awash with talented options, such as the Ford Puma, Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008. So, even though the Juke has only been on sale since 2019, Nissan is readying its replacement. Gotta stay sharp to stand out.

And sharp the new Juke will be. It'll keep the Juke's signature squashed shape, but with more angular bodywork creases than before. In fact, the new Juke's styling is inspired by the Hyper Punk concept (pictured), so we expect a triangular theme in places. Hopefully the wheels of the production car aren't triangle-shaped...

The new Juke will slot in underneath the newly launched Leaf SUV, so we expect it to be smaller than the current car.

It's likely to utilise the same powertrains as the Nissan Micra EV (and the Renault 4 and Renault 5), which get the choice of 40kWh and 52kWh batteries. We'd expect a range of around 250 miles from the higher-capacity battery. Fast-charging at 100kW is likely to be fitted, which would give a 15-80% top-up in half an hour.

Those models use a small-car version of Nissan and Renault's EV-specific platform. If the Juke follows, it won't be able to feature a petrol engine at all – which could be a gamble given the uncertainty around electric car sales.

Two of the Juke's already available rivals, the Fiat 600 and Jeep Avenger, were launched as purely electric models but have since been reengineered to take petrol and hybrid engines.

The Juke EV will be built alongside the new Leaf and the larger Qashqai SUVs at Nissan's British plant in Sunderland.
