New 2027 Nissan Juke EV: price, specs & release date

You’ve got a year or so to get accustomed to the new Nissan Juke’s design.

Nissan has revealed its new third-generation Juke, and the drastic changes manage to make the current Juke look rather pedestrian.

The new Nissan Juke is inspired by origami, its eye-catching body creases appearing to replicate screwed up balls of paper. We can imagine Nissan’s designers looking at a wastepaper bin full of discarded ideas and thinking ‘wait a minute…’

The new Juke will be fully electric, although it’s likely that the current Juke will be continue to be available for customers looking for a petrol or a hybrid option instead of purely battery powered.

Sitting on the same CMF-EV platform as the new Nissan Leaf, we expect that the electric Juke will use the same battery packs. That would mean a choice of 52kWh and 75kWh batteries, which manage 271 and 386 miles respectively in the very aerodynamic Leaf. The Juke's more complex shape could reduce the range estimates slightly, although it's smaller than the Leaf, so could end up a bit lighter.

Both batteries offer fast-charging, with the ability to soak up 20-80% charge in half an hour. Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Grid capability is likely to be optional.

Inside, there’s likely to be a Google-based infotainment system with a joined-up route planner tool that could control the battery preheating – meaning the battery can draw as much power as possible when it’s plugged in.

Nissan will start selling the new Juke in spring 2027, and we’ll have to wait until nearer the car’s launch to find out prices and trim level details. Given the Leaf starts at a bit over £32,000 (after a £3,750 electric car grant), the Juke EV needs to come in under £30,000. It’s difficult to imagine the Juke not being eligible for the grant.

Like the current Juke, the new model will be built right here in the UK at Nissan’s Sunderland plant.

There are numerous small SUVs to compare the Juke against. Electric options include the Hyundai Kona, Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600e, Mini Aceman, Ford Puma Gen-E and Kia EV2.
