Maybe you want to feel like you’re in Bon Jovi, or maybe you want to reminisce about a fly-drive holiday in the States.
Either way, there are many great American cars for sale in the UK – even if we don’t get the likes of the Rivian R1S, Lucid Air and 700hp pickup trucks. One day maybe.
Here are the best American cars you can actually buy on UK soil – and click here to browse the used American cars you can buy at Motorpoint.
Tesla Model Y

- Impressive practicality
- Facelifted in 2024 with Cybertruck-inspired front end
- Model Y Performance hits 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds
You’re looking at the best-selling electric car in the UK in 2025. The Tesla Model Y is a great all-rounder – it’s able to travel nearly 400 miles on one charge, it’s lightning quick and it’s very spacious. Of course, it’s full of technology as well, with the central screen being a one-stop shop for the sat nav, opening the tailgate and setting virtual whoopie cushions for unsuspecting passengers.

Ford Kuga

- Perfect next step if you've outgrown a Focus
- Called the Escape in North America
- Petrol, diesel, hybrid and PHEV engines available here
The Ford Kuga is the brand’s biggest SUV in the UK but it’s the smallest stateside. It’s the perfect size for both Birmingham, West Mids, and Birmingham, AL. There's plenty of space for a family but you’re not going to feel overwhelmed down a tight country lane. The Kuga boasts a practical boot and an intuitive interior, plus it’s one of the best-driving SUVs.

Jeep Avenger

- Compact SUV has a cheeky character
- Four-wheel drive available
- Lots of bright colours to choose from
Jeep’s smallest SUV isn’t actually sold in America, and it’s built in Poland alongside the mechanically related Fiat 600. Don’t let that put you off – the Avenger still feels quite Jeepy, and it’s perfectly set up for our roads. It’s available with some very economical engines, including a standard petrol and a plug-in hybrid, and there’s a full EV version as well. So you can have an American-feeling car with the cheap running costs needed to cope with our gas prices.

Ford Explorer

- Shares underpinnings with VW Group EVs
- Promises almost 300 miles of range at motorway speeds
- Related Ford Capri brings a coupe look
The European Ford Explorer is completely different to the US one. Ours is a blocky but surprisingly compact electric SUV with a 370-mile range and fast charging. It looks fresh and modern, and its interior is pleasingly techy with a big, crisp portrait touchscreen.

Tesla Model 3

- UK's second best-selling EV in 2025
- Better to drive than the Model Y
- Traditional saloon boot helped by under-bonnet 'frunk'
Tesla’s Model 3 is a benchmark electric car – it’s the car that rivals such as the BMW i4 and Polestar 2 are aiming for. Slinky and sleek, the Model 3 is one of the longest-range EVs you can buy, with a quoted range of 466 miles. But it’s really fun to drive as well, plus you get full access to Tesla’s Supercharger network for easy top ups out and about.

Ford Puma

- Now available as fully electric Gen-E
- Every Puma is fun to drive
- Big boot
Another European Ford, the Puma picked up where the Fiesta left off as the UK’s most popular car. If you don’t have one yourself you’ll probably know someone who does. The Puma has a big boot, keen handling and a sporty look, while being easy to park and cheap on fuel.

Jeep Compass

- Over 400mm wading depth capacity
- 16-inch touchscreen handles infotainment functions
- Promises to be much better than previous Compass model
Jeep is in the midst of launching a new Compass, a midsize rival to the likes of the Nissan Qashqai, Vauxhall Grandland and the Peugeot 3008, with which it shares its underpinnings. Like its stablemates, there’s a range of powertrains including petrol, plug-in hybrid and fully electric – with the latter offering a four-wheel-drive version and Jeep-specific off-road capability.
Ford Mustang

- Iconic sports car gives a unique driving experience
- Occasionally feels a bit long on UK roads
- Evocative V8 soundtrack
The Mustang is as American as an NFL quarterback eating a hot dog, and we love it for that. You get one engine choice but it’s a good’un – Ford’s 5.0-litre non-turbocharged V8, which is an excellent mechanism for turning fuel into glorious noise and new tyres into very worn tyres. Yes, a Porsche 718 Cayman is objectively a better sports car, but there’s nothing as exciting or as characterful as a ‘Stang.

Jeep Wrangler

- Rugged 4x4 with lots of customisation options
- Proper terrain management systems and low-range gearbox
- 760mm wading depth
Of all the American cars for sale in the UK, the Wrangler feels the most out of place. After all, we don’t have the vast network of trails, deserts and wilderness as North America does, so its dune-bashing talent is a bit wasted on our asphalt roads. Actually, have you seen the state of our roads? Maybe the Wrangler is ideal after all.

Chevrolet Corvette

- American Porsche 911 rival
- E-Ray hybrid still has a 6.2-litre V8
- Compliant over bumps and exciting to drive
It’s been a long time coming, but the latest C8 Corvette is officially available in the UK. You can only buy this American thoroughbred sports car in right-hand drive from a handful of dealerships, but it’s worth hunting one out if you know you want the raw, powerful experience of a ‘Vette. The latest Corvette is mid-engined, just like a Ferrari, and has a cockpit-like interior where everything’s facing the MVP – the driver.
