Why Buy A Used Ford Puma?

The Puma is a new kind of Ford, one that packs the class-leading ride and handling that Ford’s famous for into a stylish and compact crossover body. Throw in affordable buying and running costs, state-of-the-art infotainment across the range, and the Puma really is a tempting package.

But don’t just take our word for it – the Puma won What Car? magazine’s Small SUV of the Year, while the high-performance ST took top honours in the Sports SUV of the Year.

So read on to see all our Ford Puma spec secrets below…

Or try these: Volkswagen T-Cross, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur

What Engines Are Available In The Ford Puma?

A range of efficient but energetic Ecoboost petrol engines are a perfect match for the Puma’s perky character. The range starts with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine in two states of tune, both with mild-hybrid technology that increases mpg without really feeling any different or asking you to change your daily routine.

The ST is equipped with the same brilliant 1.5-litre engine as the award-winning Fiesta ST, giving an awesome blend of performance with affordable running costs.

Six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearboxes are available, with front-wheel drive standard across the range.

Ford Puma Bodystyles

The Puma is available exclusively in a five-door crossover bodyshell. At 4.2 metres long, it splits the difference between the Fiesta and Focus hatchbacks.

What Are The Different Trim Levels You Get When Buying A Used Ford Puma?

Choose from five trim levels when picking your perfect used Ford Puma:

  • Titanium
  • ST-Line
  • ST-Line X
  • ST-Line X Vignale
  • ST

Even entry-level Titanium has generous equipment, including 17-inch alloys, the Quickclear heated windscreen and Ford Sync 3 Navigation (see Technology, below), but it’s testament to the popularity of Ford’s ST-Line brand that every other model uses the ST initials. All get an ST bodykit and sports suspension, but ST-Line X spec jumps to 18-inch alloys, while ST-Line X Vignale adds a dash of luxury with heated seats and steering wheel, and a lumbar massage function for both front seats.

The ST is the hot hatch of crossovers, and a model in its own right. Together with punchier performance, ST owners also enjoy unique body styling and chassis upgrades, 19-inch alloys plus Recaro sports seats in part-leather and a suede-like fabric called Miko Dinamica.

What Technology Do You Get In A Ford Puma?

All Pumas are supplied as standard with Ford Sync 3 Navigation with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, DAB radio, two USB sockets and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality, so you can easily pair your smartphone.

You’ll need a minimum of ST-Line X trim to get the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which replaces traditional analogue dials with an intuitive digital display.

Driver-assist features fitted as standard across the range include autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian/cyclist detection, and post-collision braking. There’s also lane-keeping aid and lane-departure warning, plus cruise control with an intelligent speed limiter. It’s a lot of kit in a funky little Ford!
