NISSAN QASHQAI Car Review
One of the best mainstream buys on the road!
It’s not often you get a genuine ground breaking family car but that’s what the Nissan Qashqai was.
When the original was launched seven years ago Nissan said it was a ‘crossover’ between a hatchback and a compact SUV that would replace the traditional family hatchback.
It was very different back then and a huge gamble, but it paid off big time with over 2 million sales. If you needed further proof just look at the fact that every other manufacturer has followed Nissan and brought out their own crossover vehicles.
British buyers love the high up seating position, the extra space and versatility compared to a typical hatchback, but it drives just as easily and you get the option of all wheel drive to cope with the worst of winter.
And even though there are now lots of similar looking crossovers on the market, the Nissan Qashqai has retained its own individual styling.
Early in 2014 Nissan brought out an even smarter and slightly bigger new Qashqai, which is now selling as strongly as ever.
You get a good choice of engines, ranging from the 1.2 litre petrol to the 1.5 litre diesel - both of which return very good mpg. The Qashqai has deservedly become a motoring phenomenon that shows no signs of slowing up. For me it's one of the best mainstream buys on the road.
