Renault Clio Buying Guide

A popular name in the supermini market, the Renault Clio has been a favourite with car buyers since it’s launch in 1990 and has picked up plenty of awards along the way.

Clios are ideal for first time drivers, or those looking to upgrade from their first car. They are also a great choice for city driving thanks to the small 1.0 engine that still packs a punch by managing to make 100 BHP!

2020 saw the release of the fifth generation of Clio. Despite its supermini label, the Renault Clio delivers the big car feel. The cabin and luggage space is comparable to larger models (did I hear you say 391L boot?), with lots of technology packed in too:

  • Lane departure warning & lane keep assist (alerting you when you unintentionally drift out of your lane without a signal)
  • Traffic sign recognition (recognising speed limits and traffic signs, helping drivers to comply with traffic rules)
  • EASY LINK 7” touchscreen navigation with Android Auto and CarPlay
  • Hands free ‘key card’ with push button start
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Cruise control

Fun and safe to drive, their reasonable price and their stylish and roomy interior continues to make them a popular choice over 30 years after their initial launch.

Renault Clio Trivia

Did you know...

  • The Renault Clio was launched in 1990
  • It is one of only two cars to have been voted European Car Of The Year Twice (in 1991 and 2006). The other car was a VW Golf.
  • The car is named after Clio (one of the nine Muses in Greek mythology). Clio was the muse of history.

The fifth generation Renault Clio is available in petrol, diesel and hybrid models, giving you a choice of options whether you are after something that offers more fuel efficiency or are after a car with a bit more power.

Our Favourite Renault Clio Model

The Iconic trim is definitely our top pick of the Renault Clio range. We have a large choice of 20 plate models, all with the latest facelift (meaning it’s got the new front and rear lights and bumpers). The exterior modifications aren’t the only thing that’s new - we’re loving the new navigation set up inside, which comes with Renault’s EASY LINK screen that helps keep you connected. Transforming your screen to an on-board computer, you can use it to manage tasks such as controlling vehicle functionality and listening to SMS’. You can also connect your device with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Simplify the driving experience with the hands free key car with push button start too.

We’re loving the 1.0 Petrol engine with 100BHP. The low emissions of 119g/km and the ability to drive up to 54MPG makes it more economical (both for the planet and your pocket)!
