Back it up, back it in! A reversing camera is a handy feature for many buyers.
In fact, a lot of buyers swear by a reversing camera and wouldn’t buy a car without one. Thankfully, there are now loads of cars with backup cameras fitted as standard – including dinky little city cars, so you don’t even need to break the bank to have one on your next car. That’s been helped not only by the decreasing cost of camera systems, but also that reversing cameras are now mandatory equipment for new cars sold in the United States.
If a car we sell has a reversing camera, we’ll mention it on the used car listing page. We’ve picked 10 of the best cars with a rear-view camera for this list, but there are far more that we haven’t mentioned. The majority of cars offer a camera on at least some trim levels.
Peugeot 2008

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Allure, Allure Premium, GT-Line, GT, GT Premium
Excluding the entry-level Active trim and some early Allure models, all current-shape Peugeot 2008s have a high-resolution reversing camera. And the camera has a trick up its sleeve – it ‘remembers’ where you’re reversing to create a bird’s eye view of the car and what’s behind you. Despite the 2008 not having side-view cameras to help build up the image, the system works surprisingly well and helps you avoid any low-lying objects.
This clever camera system is fitted on a number of Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Vauxhall models. We’ve picked the 2008 for its bold style, affordable running costs and high quality interior.

Toyota Aygo X

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Pure, Edge, Exclusive, Undercover
The Toyota Aygo X is one of the smallest cars on the road, but that hasn’t stopped Toyota fitting a rear-view camera as standard. That means this funky city-dweller is an absolute dream in the tightest metropolitan car parks and the most daunting parallel parking spaces.
A reversing camera also came on the majority of trim levels of the Aygo it replaced – look for x-play, x-trend, x-clusiv and x-cite trims to make sure you get the kit you want.

Cupra Leon

Trim levels with a reversing camera: V1, V1 Design Edition, VZ1, VZ2, VZ2 Design Edition, VZ3, VZ3 Design Edition
The Volkswagen group has been a bit stingy with reversing cameras in the past – it’s even an optional extra on a £110,000 Porsche 911! Only Volkswagen Golf or SEAT Leon models in certain trim levels come with a camera, but the Cupra Leon – a coppered-up SEAT in a sporty dress – features a reversing camera as standard. We’re not sure why, but we’re glad the Cupra Leon does.
Entry-level V1 also includes sports seats, LED headlights, a large touchscreen and 18-inch alloy wheels. Along with the more powerful engines of the SEAT range.

Nissan Qashqai

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, N-Motion, Tekna, Tekna+
The Nissan Qashqai shows you don’t have to splash out to get a reversing camera. In fact, Qashqai models in N-Connecta trim upwards come with an Around View Monitor (AVM), which also includes a camera at the front and under each wing mirror. Together these cameras can give a near-360-degree field of vision around the car, and you can choose to focus on one of the side cameras if you’re uncomfortably close to an unyielding object. Some Qashqais also get Moving Object Detection, which alerts you if there’s an obstacle in front or behind you that you might’ve missed.
The latest 2024 Qashqai also adds a 3D surround-view image of the car and a mode that lets you see where the front wheels are without the bonnet being in the way.

Ford Kuga

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Titanium Edition, Titanium First Edition, ST-Line Edition, ST-Line X, ST-Line X Edition, Vignale
Another hugely popular family SUV, the Ford Kuga makes this list for the absolute high-def clarity of its reversing camera – the eight-inch display makes it feel like you’re sitting right on the back bumper and seeing what’s behind you with your own eyes. Front and rear parking sensors are fitted on every Kuga, so it should be easy to park this bus even without any additional cameras – which you get as part of the optional Driver Assistance Pack.

Tesla Model 3

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Standard Range, Long Range AWD, Performance
You don’t need to know much about cars to have heard of Tesla, and how it pushes the envelope for electric powertrains and in-car tech. Even the smallest, most affordable Tesla, the Model 3, has the sort of driver assistance you might expect to only find on a luxury limousine.
The Model 3 not only boasts a rear-view camera but side and front cameras too. These are partly there to provide feeds for the semi-autonomous driving the car can do, but also to help you get into a tight parking space if you’re helming the car yourself. What’s more, these cameras double up as a ‘Sentry Mode’ when you’re away from the car – like a digital security guard keeping watch over your car.

Hyundai Tucson

Trim levels with a reversing camera: Advance, SE Connect, Premium, N Line, N Line S, Ultimate
Every new-shape Hyundai Tucson gets a reversing camera as standard – you’ll also find one on SE Nav trim and above on the old-shape Tucson – and high-spec trim levels couple this with blind-spot monitoring. It’s not unusual to have these two features in a modern SUV, but the Tucson scores points for putting the side camera view in the instrument cluster when you indicate. A handy touch that ensures there’s no one to cut across or nothing to hit when you turn.

BMW 3 Series

Trim levels with a reversing camera: SE, SE Pro, Sport, Sport Pro, M Sport, M Sport Pro, M Sport Plus, M340i, M340d
With a reversing camera, all-round sensors and even self-parking tech as standard, the BMW 3 Series is a dream to manoeuvre at low speeds. And, despite being a fairly long car, the 3 Series’ tech takes all the strain out of reversing. Other standard equipment includes LED headlights and built-in sat nav, making every journey easy – even if you’re on unfamiliar roads in the dead of night.

Hyundai i10

Trim levels with a reversing camera: SE Connect, Advance, Premium, N Line
Yes, another Hyundai on this list, but you might not expect that the brand's smallest and cheapest model also comes with a reversing camera as standard. As we found out, the i10 is packed full of kit – it's a wonder there's any room for people. But the i10 also manages to be one of the most spacious small cars. Plus, it'll sit on the motorway with no fuss at all, it's economical and even quite fun to drive. An automatic gearbox is available if you're going to be sitting in inescapable rush hour traffic.

Range Rover Evoque

Trim levels with a reversing camera: S, SE, HSE, R-Dynamic, R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, R-Dynamic HSE, Autobiography, Edition
The Evoque might be the baby of the Range Rover... er... range, but it's still available with all the proper Land Rover tech. Notably, the ClearSight surround-view camera, available on Autobiography and optional as part of the Technology Pack elsewhere. For backing up, it gives you a clear view of the road behind without having to look around passengers or bulky luggage. If you ever wanted to take the Evoque off-road, the ClearSight system also knits together different images from the car's cameras to create a view of the terrain in front of the wheels without the bonnet in the way. Very clever.
