All Land Rover and Range Rover cars include a three-year manufacturer warranty.
This matches the industry standard and Land Rover's premium German rivals like BMW, Audi and Mercedes. However, brands like Lexus, Kia and MG offer even longer factory coverage.
We'll walk you through Land Rover's standard three-year manufacturer warranty in this guide, explaining what's included and highlighting common exclusions that you should avoid.

How long is Land Rover's manufacturer warranty?

The main vehicle warranty for Land Rover and Range Rover cars lasts for three years and unlimited miles. Your warranty's start date is normally counted from the day it was registered or delivered to the first owner – whichever was first. You can check your car's registration date on the DVLA's vehicle information checker.
This warranty covers most mechanical and electrical failures. Land Rover offers a separate, six-year warranty protection for the high-voltage battery packs in its plug-in-hybrid models. It also covers its cars against corrosion (rust) for six years.
What does Land Rover's three-year warranty cover?

Land Rover's manufacturer warranty will cover almost all mechanical or electrical parts that fail as a result of their materials, manufacturing or assembly. Essentially, this means only warranty claims that can be considered Land Rover's fault will be approved.
Any failure resulting from accident, misuse or neglect will be considered the fault of the car's owner for not following Land Rover's usage guidance. In this case, your warranty claim will not be approved. In addition, any parts that are considered wear-and-tear aren't covered under warranty.
Typical parts covered under warranty include:
- Engine (not including spark plugs)
- Fuel system (not including fuel filter)
- Cooling system (not including the coolant itself)
- Gearbox (not including gearbox fluid)
- Driveline
- Suspension (not including shock absorbers)
- Steering system
- Braking system (not including pads, shoes, discs or drums)
- Electrical parts (not including fuses)
What does Land Rover's three-year warranty not cover?

You can refer to Land Rover's warranty terms and conditions for more info on specific exclusions. A non-exhaustive list of wear-and-tear items not covered by the warranty includes:
- Lubricants
- Oil filter
- Fuel filter
- Air filter
- Pollen (cabin) filter
- Drive belts
- Spark plugs
Outside of normal wear-and-tear items, Land Rover will deny your warranty claim if you haven't kept the vehicle serviced in line with its recommendations. Service intervals for most Land Rover models are every 12 months or 10,000 miles – whichever comes first. You should keep all maintenance receipts and paperwork as proof you've serviced your car on time. All services carried out by approved Land Rover service centres should be recorded in your car's digital service record.
Like most warranties, Land Rover requires that you contact a service centre as soon as you spot a problem with your car. This is because continuing to drive while a fault is present could be unsafe or cause further damage to the vehicle. Knowingly using the car while a fault is present may lead to your warranty claim being denied. As added backup, Land Rover includes roadside assistance alongside the standard warranty.
Pretty much any modification to your vehicle that isn't an official part fitted by Land Rover itself will see your warranty voided. This is because Land Rover can't guarantee the quality of third-party components. You should also refrain from tampering with your vehicle's digital systems, such as mileage and VIN data, which will see your cover invalidated. Officially fitted Land Rover accessories won't impact your warranty cover.
Land Rover's warranty literature references "motorsport events or [driving] for any purpose other than normal, private or commercial use", which will void your warranty. Recreational off-road driving shouldn't void your warranty, but speak to your Land Rover dealer if you're planning anything more involved. Any use of the vehicle as a taxi, private hire, courier, emergency services or military vehicle will also automatically void its warranty.
Land Rover warranty limited coverage items
Paint surface
Land Rover guarantees the quality of its paint for three years. This only applies to defects in the paint itself or problems resulting from the way it was applied. That means any external damage to your paintwork won't be covered, such as parking scratches or uncleaned bird droppings.
Official parts and accessories
Any official Land Rover parts or accessories will be covered by the main vehicle warranty if they were fitted when your car was new, or fitted within the first month or 1,000 miles.
If you have a Land Rover service centre fit any official parts or accessories after this point, they are covered by a 24-month warranty.
Land Rover roadside assistance
For added peace of mind, Land Rover includes standard roadside assistance for the duration of its main manufacturer warranty. This is a free service you can call in the event your vehicle breaks down or can't be accessed. Land Rover send an experienced technician to your location to diagnose and fix your problem.
In addition, roadside assistance includes transport to the nearest service centre if the problem can't be fixed at the roadside. It also covers storage costs up to £100 if necessary, vehicle transport costs if you're far from home, plus onward transport costs or a replacement vehicle if yours can't be fixed within a reasonable timeframe.
Is Land Rover's three-year warranty transferable?

Yes. If you sell your Land Rover, the remainder of its original manufacturer warranty will automatically transfer to the new owner. The existing warranty T&Cs will need to have been followed throughout the car's ownership, meaning it's been serviced on time, hasn't been abused or neglected, and is within the three-year age limit. Any extended warranty cover you've purchased for your Land Rover automatically transfers to the new owner too.
This means many of the nearly new and used Land Rover cars for sale at Motorpoint are still covered by their original manufacturer warranty. You can see on each individual Motorpoint vehicle listing how much warranty cover that particular car has left. Any car on sale at Motorpoint that's no longer covered by its original manufacturer warranty includes a free three-month Motorpoint warranty as standard.
How long is Land Rover's hybrid battery warranty?

Hybrid and fully electric cars use a high-voltage battery pack to store energy to drive the vehicle. These are covered by a longer warranty to give owners extra confidence.
All plug-in-hybrid Land Rover and Range Rover cars have their battery packs guaranteed for six years or 60,000 miles – whichever comes first. Any failures of the battery pack or excess capacity fade that occurs in this time will be covered under the battery warranty. Excess capacity fade is normally treated as the battery pack falling below 70% of its original capacity within the warranty period.
While Land Rover doesn't sell any fully electric models yet, it plans to in the near future. The high-voltage battery packs in these cars are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles – whichever comes first.
It's important to mention that, while Land Rover will only cover these battery packs for a limited time, they are expected to last much longer. In fact, the battery packs in most of today's electrified vehicles is expected to last the lifetime of the car with no replacements needed. You can help your battery last as long as possible by keeping its charge below 80% in normal use and only using the full 100-0% range for long-distance drives.
What is Land Rover's anti-corrosion (rust) warranty?
Land Rover guarantees its vehicles' bodywork against rust for six years with no mileage limit. This is shorter than the industry standard which, for most manufacturers, is 12 years of protection.
Like most other brands this cover only applies if rust 'perforates' your vehicle. This means any corrosion that forms on the inside of your car's structure and causes a hole to form to the outside. Any corrosion like this can only have been caused by a manufacturing or material defect, and is thus Land Rover's fault. Any rust that forms on your car's exterior as a result of damage or environmental factors isn't covered under warranty.
Can you extend Land Rover's three-year warranty?

Yes. Land Rover offers an extended warranty programme for cars up to 10 years old with up to 100,000 miles. This is only available to purchase while your original warranty is still active with at least one month remaining before running out. If you want to purchase an extended warranty after this point, your car will need to be inspected before Land Rover will offer you one.
Be aware that the extended warranty product does not include the roadside assistance that the car's original manufacturer warranty included. You can add roadside assistance to your extended warranty for an additional cost.
There's no obligation to take an extended warranty out with Land Rover as there are plenty of third-party warranty providers that might be better value for older Land Rover models. This includes Motorpoint's own extended warranty package.
Does Land Rover's three-year warranty apply to all models?
Yes. Every Land Rover and Range Rover car officially sold in the UK is automatically covered by its manufacturer warranty. This remains active as long as all the vehicle's owners stick to the warranty terms and conditions.
That means everything from the comparatively affordable Range Rover Evoque, to the rugged Land Rover Defender and the full-fat Range Rover is covered from the factory.
