2026 Lepas L6: price, specs & release date

Lepas is a Chery brand that’s planning a two-pronged launch into the UK in 2026.

First came the announcement of the Lepas L8, and now we know that it’ll be joined by the slightly smaller L6.

There’ll be a full electric L6 BEV that offers up to 270 miles from a 67kWh battery, plus a plug-in 'Super Hybrid' version that adds a petrol engine to the mix for a total range of around 700 miles.

These powertrains are probably the same as the ones in the electric Omoda E5 and the plug-in Jaecoo 7 SHS. If so, the Lepas L6 plug-in hybrid will manage over 50 miles of pure electric driving, and the petrol engine will be deployed cleverly to boost efficiency and prioritise the e-motor.

Lepas – a Chery sub-brand – states that the L6 BEV will offer a 30-80% recharge in 20 minutes (just remember that most rivals quote 10-80% for charge times), and that the L6 Super Hybrid will also be able to fast-charge.

The styling is sharp and modern, and on its own it looks quite nice. But it looks very similar to a whole host of Chinese newcomers fighting for your custom – if we told you this was a Geely, Changan or Leapmotor, you’d take our word for it. Oh, yes, Lepas is a completely different brand from Leapmotor. Keep up…

The L6 will also be a similar size to family SUV favourites such as the Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga.

Lepas is showcasing the L6 at the Milan Design Week in a few days’ time, before the car launches properly in the last quarter of 2026.

Ray Wang, Lepas’ UK managing director, promises that the L6 is “as clever as your smartphone” and “as sophisticated as your home”. We expect a well-built interior with lots of plush-looking materials and a big touchscreen taking pride of place in an otherwise minimalist interior.
