The Cupra Raval is the Spanish brand's smallest and cheapest EV, going up against the likes of the Renault 5 and BYD Dolphin Surf.
The new Cupra Raval has been revealed. It's the first model to sit on the VW Group's small electric car underpinnings, which will also be used for the Volkswagen ID. Polo, Skoda Epiq and Audi A2 e-tron.
When it goes on sale in the summer, the entry-level Raval will start at a reasonable £23,785 – and it could be even cheaper if it's eligible for the Government's Electric Car Grant.
Cupra Raval prices and trim levels

The base model is called the Raval Origin, which comes with the smaller battery option (37kWh) and a 115hp electric motor. We'd expect a quoted range of circa 200 miles for this version.
Next are the V1 and V2 trim levels. These offer both batteries, with the larger 52kWh option reportedly capable of 280 miles to a charge and a 10-80% charge time of 23 minutes at a suitably powerful charger. Here, the smaller battery is mated to a 135hp motor, while the 52kWh battery also gets improved performance courtesy of a beefy 210hp motor.
V1 is considerably more expensive than Origin, costing £26,995 for the small battery. A V2 model with the 37kWh battery costs £29,580. Upgrading to the larger battery costs £3,000.

High-spec models are likely to get Matrix LED headlights, a 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system, park assist and additional driver aids.
The top-spec VZ model is warmed up even more, with a 225hp motor. Plus, the hot hatch VZ gets a limited-slip differential and Dynamic Chassis Control, otherwise known as adaptive suspension that can be adjusted on the fly. Maximum range stands at 250 miles for the VZ, although it sounds like this isn't a car to be focusing on efficiency. Prices start at £34,995, or £36,310 for the VZ Extreme model.
Six colours are available: a greyish blue solid finish, white, black and grey metallics, a matte green and even greeny purple pearlescent paint.
While the Raval measures a whisker over four metres long, the wheelbase is 2.6 metres, so the Raval and ID. Polo should offer noticeably more passenger space than a petrol Polo.
The price of the entry-level Raval is in the same ballpark as the Kia EV2, Citroen e-C3, Hyundai Inster and Renault 5. The ID. Polo is expected to undercut the Raval by a few hundred pounds.
