Combining sensible practicality with sporty performance, Skoda vRS models are well worth checking out.
Many carmakers have a special badge for their faster models. Ford has ST, BMW has its M cars and Volkswagen’s GTI badge is well known. vRS is Skoda’s go-faster moniker, and vRS models have extra power and sportier trimmings over more pedestrian versions.
Current Skoda vRS models are:
- Octavia vRS
- Kodiaq vRS
- Elroq vRS
- Enyaq vRS
What does Skoda vRS stand for?

vRS stands for ‘Victory Rally Sport’, highlighting Skoda’s motorsport pedigree and success.
In most markets, vRS is simply called Skoda RS – but wanted to avoid confusion with Ford’s RS products in the UK. The ‘v’ is small to match the accent on the S of Škoda.
Are Skoda vRS models fast?

Yes, Skoda’s vRS models are faster than standard Skoda models, thanks to more powerful engines or motors.
A basic Skoda Octavia comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 116hp and enables a 0-62mph time of 10.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the range-topping Octavia vRS has a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 265hp, and a 0-62mph time of 6.4 seconds. That might not sound like a big difference on paper, but it makes a whole lot of difference in reality.
Are Skoda vRS models four-wheel drive?

Skoda SUV models with a vRS version are all-wheel drive, but the Octavia vRS is front-wheel drive. Previously, you could get a diesel Octavia vRS with four-wheel drive, too.
Skoda vRS electric models

Both the Skoda Elroq and Skoda Enyaq are available in vRS form. In both cases, you get grippy four-wheel drive courtesy of two electric motors (more prosaic models only have one motor), and an enticing 340hp. That’s enough to get from 0-62mph in just 5.4 seconds, which’ll beat many hot hatchbacks.
