The Nissan X-Trail has been facelifted, with a renewed focus on ruggedness.
Coinciding with the X-Trail’s 25th anniversary, the updated model brings refreshed styling, a macho new trim level and an improved infotainment system.
The new X-Trail is available to order now, with prices starting from £38,220 for the Acenta Premium edition. That’s a £1,995 increase on the pre-facelift car.
In terms of styling, the grille gets a new design and the daytime running lights have been tweaked. The black exterior trim is now gloss, and there’s more body-coloured trim on the rear of the car – plus reprofiled LED tail-lights. New alloy wheels, measuring up to 20 inches in diameter, and two new paint colours (shown here) are now available.
Acenta Premium is followed by N-Connecta and Tekna, plus a new N-Trek trim in between them. N-Trek cars come with red accents around the base of the car, black-and-red Nissan logos and a more robust design for the bumpers. You also get black roof rails, exclusive 19-inch wheels and a little etching of Mount Fuji in the boot.
Additionally, N-Trek features waterproof upholstery – good for adventure seekers or the incontinent – and rubber floor coverings. A panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light.
All new X-Trails now come with a Google-integrated infotainment system, comprising Google Maps, Play Store app access, weather updates and the tech giant’s voice assistant – which can be used for setting the navigation, sending a text message and even turning on the seat heater.
New interior options include brown quilted leather upholstery, a synthetic leather upholstery and wood-effect dashboard trim.
The X-Trail will retain its petrol engines, including the clever E-Power hybrid, and four-wheel drive is available.
Nissan’s largest petrol-powered SUV, the X-Trail comes with the option of seven seats and rivals cars including the Skoda Kodiaq, Chery Tiggo 8 and Peugeot 5008.
