Motorpoint staff on target to raise £1,000 for charity after climbing Snowdon

21 December 2017 Press Release

A team of intrepid explorers from Motorpoint Newport have climbed Snowdown in aid of Dreams and Wishes

“It was bitterly cold and visibility wasn't great but we did it and hopefully have raised lots of money for Dreams and Wishes which is the main thing”

The four-strong group of Andrew Davies, Michael Gittings, Adam John and Geraint Rowlands climbed the highest peak in the British Isles outside of the Scottish Highlands several days ago after weeks of punishing training.

They are aiming to raise up to £1,000 for Motorpoint Newport’s charity partner Dreams and Wishes after making the 3,650ft ascent. The charity, which started in 2011, supports seriously children in South Wales with life threatening illnesses by helping to make their dreams and wishes come true.

Christopher Brown, General Manager of Motorpoint Newport, explained: “The guys have been taking part in some hikes in the Brecon Beacons of late as part of a team building exercise and that’s where the idea to climb Snowdon was born. They enjoyed themselves so much that they came to me and suggested doing something more substantial for charity which they’ve done. Well done to each and every one of them for their efforts!”

Michael Gittings, Sales Executive, added: “We left it a little bit late to make the ascent but as a wise man once said ‘it’s not how you start…its how you finish’. It was bitterly cold and visibility wasn't great but we did it and hopefully have raised lots of money for Dreams and Wishes which is the main thing.”

Motorpoint, which is based next to the Newport Retail Park in Newport, is a long-standing supporter of Dreams and Wishes. It also routinely provides children with hospitality tickets for shows at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff.
