24 September 2020 Press Release

Motorpoint Swansea has adopted Maggie’s as its charitable partner

“We are extremely proud to be teaming up with Maggie’s and support the amazing work that they do for cancer patients across South West Wales”

The Swansea branch of the UK’s leading independent car retailer, which is based on Samlet Road in the city, will support the work of the popular independent charity for a minimum of 12 months.

The 28-strong workforce at the Motorpoint branch recently voted to give their backing to Maggie’s Swansea, which is based at its specially-designed centre in Singleton Hospital. The team are already busy working on fundraising ideas including a cycle ride across Wales early next year.

Created by the world renowned Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, the centre, which opened its doors in 2011, provides a unique home from home for people who are dealing with cancer in South West Wales. Last year Maggie’s supported some 13,000 people.

Andrew Davies, General Sales Manager of Motorpoint Swansea, explained: “We are extremely proud to be teaming up with Maggie’s and support the amazing work that they do for cancer patients across South West Wales. We’re already busy working on fundraising ideas that we can drive forward over the coming weeks and months to help raise as much money as possible to continue the work of this much-loved charity.”

Lucia Osmond, Centre Fundraising Manager at Maggie’s Swansea, added: “We are extremely grateful to Motorpoint for adopting Maggie’s as their charitable partner in Swansea. Their fundraising will be extremely welcome as will the opportunity to raise greater awareness of ourselves as an organisation among the Motorpoint customer base.”

Motorpoint opened its doors in Swansea earlier this year following a multi-million pound investment in the five-acre branch in Llansamlet. Home to 500 low mileage, nearly new cars and light commercial vehicles from over 30 different manufacturers, every vehicle comes with the balance of manufacturer’s warranty backed by the Motorpoint Price Promise. This means Motorpoint will refund the difference to any customer within seven days of their order if they find the same car cheaper from a competitor. As an added bonus, it will also give the customer £50 worth of Amazon vouchers to spend.

Plus, as part of its COVID-19 safeguarding process, customers can test drive cars unaccompanied while all vehicle collections will be contactless and completed in specially designated areas to guarantee social distancing at all times. Motorpoint also offers a dedicated home delivery service covering the whole of the UK mainland for those customers who would prefer not to visit the branch, backed by its 14 day hassle free, money back guarantee.
