What is Peugeot Allure Care?

Peugeot Allure Care – now simply called 'Peugeot Care' – applies to the brand's electric cars.

It's an extra warranty on top of the standard factory coverage, specifically protecting against EV-component failures.

We'll talk you through what Peugeot Allure Care covers, how long it lasts and what exclusions apply.

How long does Peugeot Allure Care last?

Peugeot Allure Care lasts for up to eight years or 100,000 miles – whichever comes first. This is made up of an initial three-year standard factory warranty, like most other cars on sale, with up to five extra years of coverage unlocked with each subsequent service at a Peugeot dealership.

Every time you service your electric car with Peugeot, you'll automatically receive another period of warranty coverage that lasts until your next service. At this point, you'll get another Peugeot service and unlock another period of warranty coverage, repeating this process until the car is eight years old or has covered 100,000 miles.

The age limits are counted from when your vehicle was first registered. You can find your car's date of registration by using the DVLA's vehicle information checker.

What does Peugeot Allure Care include?

Full coverage is detailed in Peugeot's Allure Care terms and conditions. The main focus of the service is on the "electric motor, charger, transmission, and main electrical and mechanical components".

That list broadly covers most of the key components found on an electric car. As a result, you're very likely to be covered should a part on your Peugeot fail not as a result of external damage.

What does Peugeot Allure Care exclude?

You can see all the exclusions in Peugeot's T&Cs, but exclusions for Peugeot Allure Care are roughly in line with exclusions found in most vehicle warranties.

That means you need to have maintained your Peugeot to the manufacturer's specifications, so it's worth keeping proof of your car's service history.

In addition, you'll find your coverage is denied if your car has been modified in any way, or had its VIN identification or mileage tampered with.

Allure Care also won't apply to your car if it has ever been used as a taxi, private hire, rental, courier, emergency vehicle or most other working vehicle roles. Peugeot will void any vehicles that have been used for racing rallying or any kind of competitive motor event.

Does Peugeot Allure Care include the battery?

Peugeot already offers an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for the high-voltage battery packs that power its hybrid and electric cars. As a result, the high-voltage battery in your Peugeot electric car doesn't need to be covered by the Allure Care programme.

The battery warranty guarantees that your car's battery will retain at least 70% of its original capacity for eight years or 100,000 miles. In the event the capacity drops below this level within the coverage period, Peugeot will pay for all repairs necessary to bring it back above the 70% capacity figure.

There's a very good chance that most EV batteries will last much longer than eight years. Most of the battery packs in today's EVs are expected to last the lifetime of the car with no replacement necessary. You can help your battery last as long as possible by keeping charge between 20-80% for day-to-day driving, and only using the full 100-0% range on longer journeys.

Is Peugeot Allure Care transferable?

Yes. Peugeot Allure Care automatically transfers with the car to the new owner. The only caveat here is that the same exclusions apply for the whole period, so the car needs to have been maintained in line with Peugeot's recommended service intervals, and not have been modified, tampered or damaged in any way.

As a result, used Peugeot electric cars sold by Motorpoint – provided they were registered after the dates specified above – are all eligible for Peugeot Allure Care. Be aware that Motorpoint's vehicle listings will show how long remains of a Peugeot's standard three-year factory warranty, with Allure Care applying on top of this coverage.
