Suzuki 10-year warranty – everything you need to know

Suzuki has joined Toyota and Lexus in offering a 10-year service-activated warranty.

That means, after the standard three-year warranty expires, you'll receive another 12 months of cover each time you have the car serviced by Suzuki for up to seven years. That's a decade of full factory coverage in total.

This guide explains Suzuki's warranty, including what's covered and how to access it.

Suzuki 10-year warranty overview

  • Applies to all Suzuki models until they reach 10 years old or 100,000 miles – whichever comes first
  • Treated as an additional warranty on top of the standard three-year, 60,000-mile warranty
  • Began 1 May 2025 and includes older cars as long as they're still eligible (less than 10 years/100,000 miles)
  • Each extra year of the 10-year term starts when you service your car at a Suzuki dealership
  • Used cars without full dealer history are covered
  • Similar to the 10-year warranties offered by Toyota and Lexus

From 1 May 2025, Suzuki enhanced its warranty coverage in the UK to a total of 10 years or 100,000 miles – whichever comes first. This is made up of a standard three-year/60,000-mile warranty much like the rest of the industry, followed by up to seven years – or another 40,000 miles – of service-activated warranty coverage. Each additional year of warranty coverage is activated when you have your car serviced by Suzuki.

Your Suzuki's age is counted from the day it was first registered. You can use the DVLA's vehicle information checker to find out exactly when your car was registered. While the new policy was introduced in 2025, it applies backwards to older Suzukis as long as they're still within the stated 10-year or 100,000-mile limit.

Suzuki will honour each 12-month extension of its warranty, even if you've not previously serviced the car with Suzuki. In this case, you will count as a 'lapsed customer' and your next 12 months of coverage will begin 30 days after your car is serviced by Suzuki. Both current and lapsed customers are required to consent to any repair or replacement work that Suzuki deems necessary before the next 12 months of coverage are granted.

The Suzuki 10-year warranty covers the majority of mechanical and electrical components. It does not cover anything considered to be replaceable 'wear-and-tear' items such as tyres or brake pads. Check out Suzuki's warranty terms and conditions for a full list, but the following key components are included:

  • Engine
  • Fuel system
  • Cooling system (not the coolant itself)
  • Gearbox
  • Transfer case and differentials
  • Driveline
  • Suspension
  • Steering system
  • Braking system
  • Air conditioning and heating
  • Electrical parts
  • Hybrid components
  • EV drive components

Read Suzuki's full warranty T&Cs for an exhaustive list of excluded parts or circumstances. However, here are the main exclusions:

  • Filters
  • Fuses
  • Spark plugs
  • Clutches
  • Brake shoes, pads, drums, discs and cables
  • Oil
  • Coolant
  • Other fluids
  • Wiper blades and arms
  • Drive belts – except camshaft belt, provided it's been replaced in line with recommendations
  • Pipes and hoses
  • Lamps and bulbs
  • High tension leads
  • Wheels and tyres
  • 12V batteries
  • Exhaust systems and particulate filters
  • Infotainment systems
  • Bodywork of any kind
  • Paintwork
  • Glass and mirrors – except for electrical or mechanical failures
  • Upholstery and carpets
  • Interior and exterior trim including weather strips and seals, locks, hinges, handles and cosmetic items

Like all other car warranties, Suzuki won't cover you for any damage you cause to the car – whether the damage was your fault or not. That means you're only covered for parts that fail because they weren't made or assembled correctly, and not for any failures caused by user error or negligence.

You also won't be covered if you modify your vehicle in any way from Suzuki's original specifications, or for any failures caused by accessories – whether they're official Suzuki accessories or not. You'll also find your claim is rejected if you've used your Suzuki for racing, rallying or any other kind of performance driving and testing.

Is Suzuki's 10-year warranty transferable?

Yes. Suzuki's 10-year warranty automatically transfers with the vehicle to its new owner. All the car has to do to qualify is be under 10 years old and 100,000 miles, and have no modifications or damage that would otherwise void the cover.

As a result, all used Suzuki cars for sale at Motorpoint qualify for the company's 10-year service activated warranty. Suzukis listed on our site will show either the remainder of their original three-year standard warranty, or a complementary three-month Motorpoint warranty if their standard cover has expired. All you'll need to do is service your car with Suzuki and you'll qualify for the next 12 months of your service-activated coverage.

What is Suzuki's anti-perforation (rust) warranty?

Like most brands, Suzuki covers anti-perforation problems – aka. rust – separately from its main warranty. This cover lasts for 12 years from the car's first registration and is transferable between owners.

This cover only includes rust that was caused by manufacturer defect or error. In other words, any rust that forms as a result of damage caused by the user won't be covered.

Can you extend Suzuki's 10-year warranty?

Suzuki doesn't offer an extended warranty. Its 10-year coverage period is already industry-leading and all you have to do to access it is keep your car serviced at a Suzuki dealership or service centre.

Third-party companies and independent dealerships might offer their own extended warranty products beyond Suzuki's factory cover, but you'll need to seek this out yourself.

Does Suzuki's 10-year warranty apply to all Suzukis?

Yes. Suzuki's entire range of cars is covered by its 10-year service-activated warranty. This extends to every model that was built and registered before the introduction of the warranty in 2025, provided it's less than 10 years old and with under 100,000 miles. That means everything from the small-but-mighty Suzuki Ignis, through the zippy Suzuki Swift Sport, to the family-sized Suzuki S-Cross comes with extra peace of mind.
