If you buy a car from us, you’ll be given the option to add temporary insurance cover. This costs £19.99 and gives you three days of drive-away insurance coverage. That means you can drive home straight away in your nearly new car and arrange your annual insurance policy from the comfort of your home at a time that suits you.
This price is available to Motorpoint customers through our partnership with Tempcover and is often more affordable than temporary insurance coverage arranged by other providers. Plus, by delaying the start date of your annual insurance policy compared with arranging on the day of purchase, you’re likely to be offered a lower premium by providers.

That depends on the individual insurance provider. Some quotes expire the same day you get them, while others last longer.
You can find the expiry date for each quote below the total price, and your previous quotes under the ‘quotes’ section of your Confused.com account.
The two most common occasions where you might pay admin fees are when:
- Cancelling your car insurance policy before the 12 months is up – also known as a mid-term cancellation.
- Changing your car insurance policy details – for example, a change of address or car.
You should check the terms and conditions of your policy for any other fees that might apply.
Most insurers don't charge a fee if you cancel within the first 14 days of your policy. If you want to cancel your policy after that, you'll probably have to pay face a cancellation fee.
