Kia is turning the page with its new family hatchback – and it's priced to undercut rivals.
The Ceed name is gone; welcome to the new Kia K4. As well as tying in with the brand’s electric models, the K4 is aiming to be a bit more memorable than the talented but unexciting Ceed.
2025 Kia K4 prices and specifications
Kia's new family hatch starts at £25,995, which is almost £3,000 less than the cheapest Volkswagen Golf and £8,000 less than the Peugeot 308 (albeit slightly more than the SEAT Leon and Hyundai i30).
That headline price is for the Pure trim with a 1.0-litre petrol engine. The name of the trim level sounds like it's lacking equipment, but in actual fact it comes with goodies such as LED lights all-round, large screens, a reversing camera and lane-keep assist.

Mid-range GT-Line is a fiver under £30,000, and brings sportier styling plus extra equipment including heated seats, blind-spot monitoring, tinted rear windows and a powered driver's seat. Choose the more powerful engine, and this trim level costs £31,295.
GT-Line S is the top trim, and shows it with artificial leather upholstery, a sunroof, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry, wireless phone charging and a Harman Kardon sound system. Prices start at £33,995, or £36,195 for the upgraded engine (which also brings bigger wheels).
Styling and dimensions
The shark-nosed front end is low and wide, while the rear end includes boomerang-shaped LED units that arch down towards the floor. In between, a blacked-out rear pillar gives the impression that the roof floats, and the hidden rear door handles make it look sleek.

It helps that the K4 is quite long. At 4.44m nose to tail, it’s longer than the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Peugeot 308 – although a little shorter than the Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia. Take the Octavia out of the equation and the K4 offers a class-leading 438 litres of boot space. However, pick the mild-hybrid engine and this drops by a baffling 110 litres, putting it near the bottom of the pack.
Engines and performance
So, engines – it still has those. There’s a 1.0-litre petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and 115hp – with or without the small electrical assistance of the mild-hybrid technology. Opt for the optional automatic gearbox and you’ll have to pair it with the MHEV system.
Above that is a 1.6-litre pure petrol with either 150hp or 180hp, with the seven-speed automatic gearbox fitted as standard. There’ll also be a ‘full’ hybrid version to rival the Civic and Toyota Corolla, but you’ll need to wait until 2026 to get your mitts on that one.
