SsangYong buying guide

SsangYong only builds SUV models, with three models in its lineup.

Up first is the Tivoli SUV – the smallest model SsangYong currently builds. Despite its compact billing, the cabin is easily large enough for four adults, or five for shorter journeys. While it has the taller stance of an SUV, the Tivoli is most at home on the road, with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and front-wheel drive helping to keep fuel costs relatively low.

In the middle of the SsangYong range is the Korando. This is a great choice for families with lots of room in the rear to manoeuvre child seats into position. There’s also a large, square boot – ideal if you often carry dogs or pushchairs. You get a choice of 1.5-litre turbo petrol or 1.6-litre diesel, along with optional all-wheel drive if you do the occasional bit of off roading.

The largest model in SsangYong’s lineup is the Rexton. This beefy seven-seater is a good choice if you need your SUV for tougher jobs, including regular off-road driving. All Rexton models sold in the UK come with diesel engines and, thanks to sharing a platform with the SsangYong Musso pickup truck, have excellent cargo and towing capacities.

FAQs

SsangYong currently offers one electric model – the Korando e-Motion. This uses a 61.5kWh battery pack, which translates to a range of 211 miles on a full charge. You get all the same benefits as the regular Korando, including its spacious cabin and large cargo area. Plus, the 140kW (188hp) electric motor is actually more powerful than both the petrol and diesel engine choices, making this the fastest Korando you can buy.
