Why buy a used Polestar

Polestar is a major player in the electric car market, and its growing range of cars is nipping at Tesla's heels. With input from parent company Geely, Polestar has become the go-to destination if you want an EV that goes far, looks great and does its bit for the environment. As well as vegan upholstery and recycled materials, Polestar is planning to have a truly carbon neutral car on sale by 2030. But even if you don't really care about that, Polestar's lineup of cars and SUVs will impress with calm interiors and practical cabins.

Popular Polestar models for sale at Motorpoint

  • Polestar 2 – the brand's most affordable and widely available model, which now boasts a range of up to 406 miles
  • Polestar 4 – an unusual but appealing coupe-SUV with cameras instead of a rear windscreen

Owning a Polestar

A used Polestar is likely to be a delightful car to live with. Its cars have a first-rate infotainment system that's intuitive to use and lots of technology to make long journeys fly by. Comfort is a top priority, which, coupled with Polestar's impressive range estimate figures, means the brand's cars are superb on long journeys. If you can charge at home, your main running costs will be considerably cheaper than they would be in a petrol alternative.

FAQs

Yes, Polestar now only makes fully electric cars. The Polestar 2 comes with a 78kWh battery pack that enables a 300-mile range, and there’s 150kW fast-charging capability if you get caught short on a long journey. Power stands at 408hp in dual-motor cars, giving the Polestar 2 the instant hit of off-the-line performance that electric cars are known for.

Pilot Lite is an active safety pack available on the Polestar 2. Among the additions are a 360-degree camera, cross-traffic alert, highway driving assistance, additional parking help, cornering fog lights and automatically dimming mirrors.

This pack focuses on comfort features rather than driver aids. There’s a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, air quality monitoring and a heat pump, which will make the Polestar 2 more efficient in colder weather.

As with many electric cars, the Polestar 2 comes in Standard Range and Long Range versions. The Standard Range model has one front-mounted electric motor and a 297-mile range, while the single-motor Long Range version increases that to 341 miles. The dual-motor Long Range version, with a motor on each axle and much more power, offers 301 miles.

Electric cars have far fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel cars so, in theory, there’s a lot less to go wrong. Of course, complex infotainment electronics can bring in glitches – that can happen in any modern car – but Polestar’s over-the-air software updates should minimise any bugs. Reliability data on Polestar is hard to come by but a lot of parts are shared with Volvos, which typically perform well in reliability and owner happiness surveys.

The used Polestar cars for sale at Motorpoint are available with either Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Hire Purchase (HP) finance. What’s more, you can opt for a no-deposit deal if you wish.
