Omoda FAQs

Omoda is one of the off-shoots of well-established Chinese carmaker Chery. It sits alongside Jaecoo, but with a more youthful focus whereas Jaecoo is aiming to be a premium offering.

Omoda is formed from the 'o' symbol, representing oxygen (and, by extension, life and vitality), plus 'moda' – a word used in Latin languages for fashion or modernity.

Omoda cars should be very safe. The larger Omoda 9 scored 90% for adult occupant protection in a 2025 Euro NCAP crash test. The smaller Omoda 5 hasn't been tested, but the mechanically similar Jaecoo 7 scored 80% across all four test categories.
