BMW offers two traditional estate models – called 'Touring' models in BMW jargon. They are the 3 Series Touring and the 5 Series Touring, and are essentially big-booted variants of the 3 Series Saloon and 5 Series Saloon. Both share a cool feature – you can open the rear window separately from the entire boot lid, letting you drop in shopping rather than opening the entire boot in a cramped underground car park. The 3 Series Touring's boot measures in at 500 litres with the seats up, or 1,510 litres with the seats down. Meanwhile the 5 Series Touring has a 560-litre boot, or a vast 1,700-litre space with the rear seats flattened.
