Your legal rights

When you purchase a vehicle from us we will be entering into a contract. That contract will be governed by our Terms and Conditions of Sale  (our “Terms”). The contract sets out all the key details about how the vehicle will be sold to you, such as what condition it will be in, how you will pay for it and how we will deal with any part-exchange.

  • We are under a legal duty to supply Vehicles that are in conformity with our Terms.
  • Nothing in our Terms will affect your legal rights as a consumer.
  • Any manufacturer’s guarantee or additional Motorpoint guarantee is offered in addition to, and does not affect, those legal rights.
  • Any vehicle we sell must: match any descriptions we provide; be fit for purpose; and be of satisfactory quality. What these phrases mean is set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, but please contact us if you do not feel we have met any of these requirements (see “Contact Us” below).

Your legal rights are subject to certain exceptions, we have set out the key exceptions below.

You are not entitled to claim:

  • for defects or problems that were brought to your attention before the sale or if you have examined a vehicle before purchase and any defects should have been obvious;
  • for problems you cause by damaging or misusing a vehicle (accidentally or otherwise);
  • where you have altered or made your own attempts to repair a vehicle;
  • where you simply change your mind about wanting the vehicle;
  • if you chose the vehicle yourself for a purpose that is neither obvious nor made known to us and then find that the vehicle is simply unsuitable for that purpose; and
  • for faults that appear as a result of fair wear and tear, wilful damage or negligence.
