Motorpoint employee gets on his bike to raise over £500 for charity

16 December 2019 Press Release

Motorpoint Castleford’s Michael Sutton has completed his Tour De Motorpoint to raise money for The Prince of Wales Hospice

“24 hours on my spin bike is nothing if the money that has been raised can help make a small difference to people dealing with life limiting or life threatening conditions in the Five Towns area of West Yorkshire”

The 29 year old, who has worked in West Yorkshire as a Vehicle Detailer and Yard Technical Trainer for the UK’s leading independent car retailer since it opened in April 2016, spent last month on a spin bike at his local gym, xcercise4less, in support of the popular West Yorkshire based charity.

Michael spent over 24 hours on the spin bike in order to travel the 425 miles between the company’s branches in the North of England and Scotland – Birtley, Burnley, Castleford, Glasgow, Sheffield and Widnes – burning over 30,000 calories. He averaged 17 miles per hour during the month, raising £542 in the process.

Motorpoint is a long-standing supporter of The Prince of Wales Hospice. Based in Pontefract, the hospice has provided palliative care and support to thousands of patients with life-limiting illnesses since 1989.

“I’m a proud supporter of the Hospice,” said Michael, “and the great work they do in our local community, so 24 hours on my spin bike is nothing if the money that has been raised can help make a small difference to people dealing with life limiting or life threatening conditions in the Five Towns area of West Yorkshire.”

Michael is no stranger to fundraising for The Prince of Wales Hospice. Last year he took in a Charity Fire Walk at the branch on Whistler Drive, two minutes drive from Xscape and the Junction 32 Outlet Centre, helping to raise almost £2,500 on the night.

Motorpoint is based on Whistler Drive in Castleford. A short drive from J32 of the M62, the branch officially opened in April 2016 after a multi-million pound investment in the site on the former Glasshoughton Colliery. The branch stocks over 500 low mileage used cars all under three years old and under 25,000 miles backed by the Motorpoint Price Promise. Launched last year, Motorpoint will refund the difference to any customer within seven days of their order if they find the same car from a competitor. As an added bonus, it will also give the customer £50 worth of Amazon vouchers to spend.
