How to open the bonnet on a Mercedes A-Class

This is a tricky one! The bonnet release is underneath the dashboard by the pedals – it’s the red lever in our picture. But it’s not easy to find – we had to lay down on the ground to find it! Mercedes must be confident that you’ll not need to use it often.
Once you pull the red lever, the bonnet will open a little. Slide your finger under the slightly open bonnet, release the catch and pull the bonnet up the whole way. The bonnet lifts on hydraulic struts, so it stays up automatically.
Where does coolant go in a Mercedes A-Class?

In the engine bay, the coolant tank is on the left-hand side as you look at it. It’s a translucent container with pink liquid inside, and there are minimum and maximum markings to make sure you put the correct amount in.
The car in our pictures is the plug-in hybrid A250e which, rather confusingly, has two coolant tanks – one for the petrol engine and one for the electrical system. You'll find the latter at the back of the engine bay.
