Peugeot 508 SW FAQs

The Peugeot 508 SW is undoubtedly a good family estate car. Sure, its rivals may have bigger boots and a bit more rear-seat space, there's nothing to touch the Peugeot for style and interior flair. Vive la difference!

Yes - while Peugeot used to have a patchy reputation, these days it's doing well – placing in the top four in the 2022 Driver Power survey. Not much seems to go wrong with the 508 SW, and owners love them.

You can get the 508 SW with a 1.2-litre petrol with 130hp or a choice of 1.6-litre petrol engines – we'd go for the more affordable Puretech 180 version, which will get from 0-62mph in 8.0 seconds. There's a 225hp version, but it's thirstier, more expensive and not really worth the outlay. If you fancy diesel then go for the 1.5 Blue HDi 160 or 180, which pull well from low revs and get more than 50mpg. The PHEV is best for those who can charge at home and mostly do short journeys – these models can cover 30 miles on electric power alone.

It depends on the engine you pick: the 1.2-litre petrol with 130hp gets around 42mpg in real-world driving, while the 1.5 diesel with the same power gets around 52mpg.
