Fiat offers the petrol version of the 500 with a 'mild hybrid' system – this really just means the petrol engine gets a little help from a small electric motor that replaces the usual starter motor. The result is slightly increased fuel economy and a small bit of extra punch when pulling away, but it's not as powerful as a normal hybrid system nor does it let you drive on electric power alone.
