Damage Controller

Location: Birmingham
Hours: 42.5 - 5 days out of 7 including weekends on a rota basis
Salary: £8.75 p/h

The Role

As a Damage Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring all damage on stock vehicles is identified, photographed and booked in at the appropriate bodyshop and all repairs are carried out to the Motorpoint standard.

This important role is key for managing damage costs, therefore a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities is a must, along with excellent communication skills.

  • Damage appraisal of vehicles identified with damage on check in using the Damage assessment app.
  • Checking vehicles against the Motorpoint Standard for quality purposes.
  • Raising purchase orders via internal system repairs.
  • Taking photographic evidence and sending information of damage to Head Office using the App.
  • Maximising recharge to vehicle suppliers by working in a timely and effective manner.
  • Quality checking of repairs once completed and processing supplier invoices for authorisation.
  • Movement of vehicles on site.
  • Any other duties required to assist the Yard/Prep Manager when required.
  • Managing relationship/service with external contractors such as bodyshop, trim repairer, PDR technicians etc.

The Person

  •          Full, clean driving license and able to drive/park.
  •          Experience in working in a similar environment involving quality control, logistics and/or stock control.
  •          Well organised, with a logical and thorough approach to workload.
  •          Excellent attention to detail and desire to achieve high quality results in a timely manner.
  •          Good observation skills, with the ability to spot errors and items that do not meet quality standards.
  •          Able to remain calm and clear thinking when under time and deadline pressures.
  •          Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic personality.
  •          A great team-player whose communication style encourages and motivates others.
  •          Clear communicator, able to understand instruction with precision and check understanding, excellent listener.
  • A good general level of fitness will be required as a large amount of walking will be involved and must be prepared to work in all weathers.
