What Polestar 2 trim levels are there?

Polestar has eliminated traditional trim levels for the 2 and simply offers a standard specification, with the option to add packs to it. From the factory, Polestar 2 models get LED headlights, alloy wheels, two-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a Google-powered infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Polestar 2 cars with the Plus pack gain a panoramic glass roof, an upgraded Harmon Kardon sound system, vegan leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a heat pump to reduce energy drain from the climate control.

Pilot pack adds a brace of advanced driver assistance features. These include rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assistance, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree birds-eye view camera to help in tight parking spaces.

Polestar 2 interior and technology

The stylish cabin is an immediate selling point of the Polestar 2. You’ll find a clean, minimal design and a large central infotainment screen that controls most of the car’s functions. The driver isn’t left out, however, with a full digital screen taking the place of the traditional dials behind the steering wheel. Material quality is as high as in any premium Volvo model – this is one posh cabin.

Polestar’s infotainment system is a strong point, too. It’s powered by Android and has a clear, easy-to-use interface featuring several Google-powered services. Smartphone mirroring is offered but this is one of those rare cars where the built-in sat-nav system is a delight to use… because it’s Google Maps.

Inside, there’s a good amount of space for passengers, with enough rear knee and headroom to keep back-seat complaints to a minimum. The boot is also a handy size and the hatchback bootlid means you can easily load bulky items in without fuss.

Polestar 2 engine range explained

Polestar 2 165kW Standard Range Single Motor – most popular!

This is the entry-level motor and battery option for the Polestar, but it’s no slouch. This setup can hit 62mph from rest in 7.4 seconds, putting it close to many modern hot hatchbacks. Range from the 64kWh battery pack can stretch as high as 273 miles on a full charge.

Polestar 2 170kW Long Range Single Motor

If you think you’re going to need a little more range to cover your driving needs, take a look at the Long Range Single Motor version. Power is bumped ever so slightly to account for the heavier 78kWh battery pack, leaving it with the same 7.4-second 0-62mph time as the entry-level version. However, range jumps to 335 miles on a full charge.

Polestar 2 300kW Long Range Dual Motor

This is the current ‘top dog’ of the Polestar 2 lineup. It keeps the larger 78kWh battery pack but mates it to an electric motor on each axle for a total power output of 300kW (402hp). This gives you all-wheel drive and drops the 0-62mph time to just 4.7 seconds – a similar ballpark to Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the 1990s.

Polestar 2 models come in just one form – a chunky five-door hatchback that sits somewhere between a saloon and an SUV.

The Polestar 2 is 4.6 metres long. That means it’s fractionally shorter than key rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and BMW 3 Series. As a result, four adults will fit inside comfortably and you can push this to five for shorter journeys. The boot is a useful size, able to accommodate two large suitcases with relative ease, and there’s also space in the ‘frunk’ under the bonnet to store the charging cables.

There are only two power options for the Polestar 2 – a single motor front-wheel-drive version or a dual-motor variant with all-wheel-drive. Both feel sharp and responsive on the road with the single motor probably being enough for any buyer, but the addictive appeal of the dual motor’s impressive acceleration might be enough to tempt you.
