What Peugeot models are there?

Peugeot’s car range includes a selection of great hatchbacks, available in several different sizes. Higher up, there’s also a saloon and a van option.

The Peugeot lineup starts with the 108 city car. This tiny hatchback shares a platform with the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1, and offers just enough interior space for four adults at a push. What it lacks in space, however, it more than makes up for with manoeuvrability around congested city streets, with compact dimensions and a tight turning circle.

One size up from the 108 is the Peugeot 208. This hatchback is a similar size to the Ford Fiesta and VW Polo, but marks itself out inside with Peugeot’s so-called i-Cockpit concept – essentially an unusually small steering wheel, aimed at making it easier to tackle three-point turns or parallel parking, and a high-mounted instrument cluster. There’s an efficient range of petrol and diesel engines to choose from, along with a fully electric version with a 50kWh battery and 225-mile range.

Climbing further up the Peugeot range, you get to the 308. This family car is available in both hatchback and roomy SW estate versions, and competes with the likes of the Ford Focus and VW Golf. Like its smaller brother, the 308 also gets Peugeot’s distinctive i-Cockpit design meaning a small, flickable steering wheel and dials mounted high up in your sight line.

The largest car in the Peugeot range is the 508 – offered as either a five-door ‘fastback’ (essentially a part-saloon-part-coupe) and spacious SW estate forms. Where previous Peugeot saloons have performed well but failed to stir the soul, the latest 508 bucks the trend with surprisingly handsome good looks and a low, coupe-like roofline.

Finally, if storage space is the biggest priority, take a look at the Peugeot Rifter. This takes one of Peugeot’s mid-size vans as a start point, then fills the copious interior space with five full-size seats. That means there’s vast amounts of space to manoeuvre kids into child seats without bumping your head. You also get an appropriately van-sized boot with plenty of room for pushchairs or dogs.

 

Which Peugeot models are SUVs?

Peugeot marks its SUV lineup out with double zeros in model names.

The smallest model in the range is the 2008, which is essentially an SUV version of the 208 hatchback. Like its sibling, you get a choice of smooth petrol and diesel engines but, for the lowest running costs, take a look at the fully electric e-2008, which can travel as far as 200 miles on a full charge.

The next largest SUV in the Peugeot lineup is the 3008, which might be a better choice for families that regularly use the rear seats thanks to its larger cabin and taller roofline. Again, you get a choice of efficient turbo petrol or diesel engines as standard but, for buyers looking to trim their fuel costs further, there is a plug-in hybrid variant that can cover nearly 40 miles on battery power alone.

On the top rung of the Peugeot SUV ladder sits the 5008 SUV. This model is essentially a slightly stretched version of the 3008, which meant designers could squeeze in a third row of seats for even more passenger-carrying capability. Fold the rearmost seats away and you’re left with a vast boot that’s comfortably big enough for anything a family can throw at it.

The entry point into Peugeot’s battery-powered lineup is the e-208 hatchback.
