Mercedes EQC buying guide

What Mercedes EQC trim levels are there?

Since the Sport trim was discontinued, all UK cars come with the AMG Line package, which includes a two-bar ‘grille’ and stylised bumpers. The standard equipment list includes 20-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, a powered tailgate, heated leather seats, carbon fibre-effect interior trim, a reversing camera and two 10.25-inch screens.

AMG Line Premium cars get intricate 21-inch wheels, a sunroof, Mercedes’ Air Balance package and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Top-spec AMG Line Premium Plus adds black wheels, a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, ash wood trim and fully electric seat adjustment.

Mercedes EQC interior and technology

With the luxury and space you’d expect from a Mercedes SUV, the EQC will make you feel special. The materials, from the soft leather seats to the cool metal controls, feel top-notch and everything is well screwed together – a must, since the quiet powertrain would highlight any rattles or squeaks.

The EQC’s quietness and smoothness makes it a relaxing cruiser, and the on-board tech will help to reduce the stress of long journeys. There’s lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and active brake assist, while seat heating plus an air filtration and fragrancing package ensure comfort is catered for.

The dual-screen setup on the dashboard is shared with other Mercedes models and works well. It’s feature-packed and quite intuitive, allowing you to quickly switch between screens and menus.

Mercedes EQC boot space and dimensions

Measuring nearly 4.8 metres long, the EQC is marginally longer than the Mercedes GLC. It’s 1.6m tall and 2.1m wide. That means it’s a big car – bigger than many estates – and that translates to generous interior space. The 500-litre boot is a good size and should be plenty for lots of suitcases or bulky family clutter. The rear seats fold individually – fold them all down and you’ll have a near-1,500-litre space to fill.

Mercedes EQC range explained

(Most popular) Mercedes EQC 400 4Matic

The sole powertrain option for the Mercedes EQC has 408hp, all of which is available instantly. A 0-62mph time of around five seconds ensures the silky EQC can keep up with hot hatchbacks and sports cars, although the EQC is definitely more of a comfortable, laid-back cruiser.

Its 254-mile range is competitive, and the 80kWh battery can be recharged at up to 110kW. Plug into a suitable public fast-charger and you can be topped up from 10-80% in 40 minutes, while a full charge from a home wallbox will take 11 hours. Many buyers plug the car in every night so they always wake up with a fully charged car.

FAQs

The Mercedes EQC is a five-seat, five-door electric SUV that spearheaded Merc’s EQ range of cars. There’s just the one powertrain and three trim levels, making your choice easy peasy.

The EQC shares its platform with the GLC but the electric car is a little longer than its petrol-powered stablemate. It’s nearly 4.8 metres long, but it does have parking assistance and a reversing camera to make it easier to manoeuvre into a parking space or charging bay.

The Mercedes EQC is quiet, refined and irons out harsh bumps really well, so it’ll be right up your street if you want something that’s unashamedly comfort-focused and not pretending to be sporty. Its 254-mile range is decent, as is its passenger and boot space, while its techy interior looks great.

Yes, all EQCs come with Mercedes’ 4Matic four-wheel-drive system – handy when there’s more than 400hp on tap. The dual-motor setup provides swift acceleration and lots of grip, rather than dune-bashing off-road ability.

No, the EQC is a spacious five-seater. But Mercedes offers an electric seven-seater with the EQB.

Yes, the Mercedes EQC is only powered by its electric motors. It offers a range of up to 254 miles from a full charge and can be recharged at home or out and about.

The Mercedes EQC’s battery should last for many years. Worries about EVs’ battery life have largely proved unfounded, and Mercedes provides reassurance with an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty that’ll cover you if anything major goes wrong.
