Motorpoint Pro-Cycling Victory
08 February 2010
Motorpoint marked the launch of its pro-cycling team with victories at the Cyclo-Cross National Championships.
The company recently broke with tradition once again by becoming the first car supermarket to launch its own professional cycling team in the UK.
And in its first competitive action of the season, Motorpoint’s Ian Bibby took-off from a five-rider group on the final lap of the hour long race in Sutton Park in Birmingham to claim the title ahead of defending champion Jody Crawforth (Arctic Premier RT) in second and Paul Oldham (Hope RT) in third.
What’s more, Hannah Barnes, also riding in Motorpoint colours, claimed the Junior Women’s title at the National Championships.
Led by Ed Clancy MBE, a member of the 2008 Olympic team pursuit squad that won gold in Beijing, the Motorpoint team will compete in all of the premier UK cycling events, including the British Premier Calendar, Tour Series and the Tour of Britain together with a number of high-profile races in Europe and Asia.
